Peaches N Pop Features New DINER Single ‘Lasso The Moon’

Coming on the back of the success of her last single ‘Goodbye to Someday’, which was championed by the likes of Earmilk, Headliner Magazine, and Notion Magazine on its way to nearly hundred thousand plays online, California-based Portland pop princess DINER is excited to kick off 2024 with her brand new single titled ‘LASSO THE MOON’, as featured in Peaches N Pop. Written with frequent collaborator Emily Reid, and produced by multi-platinum selling producer Kevin Bard (Dan + Shay, Cody Simpson, Parmalee), ‘Lasso The Moon’ is the second single to be taken from her highly anticipated forthcoming debut EP, which arrives later this year via independent record label Saint & Citizen Music.

Inspired by the infamous line from the cult classic movie It’s A Wonderful Life where George Bailey says, “You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it, and bring it down here”, ‘Lasso The Moon’ is a riveting pop-country love song that sees DINER falling head over boots for her “prince charming”, but pausing to ask questions about how they really feel about her, whether they are capable of giving her what she wants, and if they’ll give her the world that she deserves. As DINER puts it, “Writing ‘Lasso The Moon’ was a scary vulnerable place to be in, but the song was so easy to write. I write music to escape, and this song is two minutes of escapism into a positive love song.”

Born and raised in Portland, and now making waves in Los Angeles, the vibrant singer, songwriter, and musician DINER is proud to carry her Oregon roots and eclectic musical background with her on her artistic journey. From the tender age of 5, DINER honed her performance skills and confidence, singing for local patrons at her family’s diner. This unique upbringing, intertwined with her involvement in her parents’ café, has profoundly shaped the woman and artist she is today. As DINER reflects, “I used to hide that I was the local diner girl, but I’ve found the beauty in it. I was raised by a community that knew me before I could ever see over the counter that have been instrumental to my growth.”

Growing up working in her parent’s Fat City Café in Multnomah Village just outside Portland, and the dreamworlds she created in her head to help her get through her shifts have also inspired DINER to express her creativity through her music, with some of her spirit and motivation also deeply rooted in her family’s musical legacy. Her mother, Helen, formed a band in her own parents’ garage in the 80s, and went on to share the stage with iconic bands like Black Flag, and even recording with The Dead Kennedys – this rich musical heritage has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on DINER, inspiring her to create music that resonates with a sense of authenticity and timelessness.

DINER’s musical inspiration is as diverse as her upbringing, drawing from a wide array of genres that she grew up listening to. From Broadway musicals like Dreamgirls to the iconic rock sounds of Queen and No Doubt, to the soulful voices of Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera, these influences have contributed to her unique sound – a youthful yet timeless blend of pop, country, rock, and folk. She explains, “Music has always been my escape. It has given me the ability to take from my present reality and dream up my favorite scenarios. Whatever or however random it is, it becomes real when I’m immersed in music. This is the magical feeling I want to evoke in others through my music.”
