With over 50 million plays already under their belt, co-signs from Spotify, BBC 1Xtra, Channel 4, and Boxpark, among others, a UK Top 40 single and BBC Radio 1 A-list to their name, collaborations with the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Stefflon Don, ZAYN, Rita Ora and Emeli Sande, and production credits on some of the country’s biggest records, London-based artist/producer trio Team Salut have been reshaping the British music landscape and culture over the past 18 months.
While the likes of J Hus, Kojo Funds and Yxng Bane have undoubtedly been at the artist forefront of the fast-rising UK ‘Afrowave’ movement, Team Salut are, without question, one of its most pioneering behind-the-boards figures, having produced some of its biggest hits – from Eugy and Mr. Eazi’s summer smash ‘Dance For Me’, to Tion Wayne’s breakthrough record ‘Minor’, to Afro B’s ‘Stay Winning’ featuring Grammy Award-nominated rapper Wale and Sneakbo.
More recently, Team Salut have stepped out into the forefront, as artists in their own rights, with their ‘Hot Property’ single and accompanying video, which features Tion Wayne, Afro B and Eugy. Already looking like another game changer for the UK ‘AfroWave’ scene with over 200,000 plays already, the single has been championed by BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, MTV UK, Rinse FM, Radar Radio, Wonderland Magazine, Highsnobiety, Earmilk, GRM Daily, Link Up TV and the MOBO Awards, among others.
Having just completed a stint of three sold-out party residencies for Boxpark earlier this month, the artist/producer trio are set to announce a partnership with Birthdays for a brand new monthly residency, which launches next month with Kenny Allstar and DJ P Montana. Coinciding with their new monthly residency, Team Salut have released their second single ‘Wagon’, featuring Afrotrap star Naira Marley, as premiered via Complex, with a highly anticipated debut EP set for release in 2018.
Having been widely revered as one of the pioneers of the UK’s Afrowave and Afrobashment sound and scene as producers, Team Salut are swiftly staking their claim, now as artists in their own rights, as one of the forerunners of this burgeoning landscape. Delivering hit after hit as is evident on ‘Hot Property’ and ‘Wagon’, with that trademark perfect hybrid backdrop of Afrobeats, UK Rap and Dancehall music, Team Salut are definite contenders for ones to watch in 2018!
