Fast-rising British singer, songwriter and musician JAMIE LEE HARRISON is back with his brand new single titled ‘Powerful’, as premiered via Female First, which is the first taste of a new selection of music from the 24-year old Newcastle-born musician, more of which will be released in 2019. The new single comes on the back of Jamie Lee Harrison’s recent UK tour earlier in the year, and his main stage performance in front of 20,000 people, at this summer’s Newcastle Pride, alongside Alexandra Burke.
You might remember Jamie Lee Harrison from last year’s Britain’s Got Talent, where he captured the nation with his rendition of R.E.M’s ‘Everybody Hurts’, which has now been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube. He went on to the semifinals of that show, but Jamie’s passion for music was evident long before that, and has always been his lifeblood, the singer, songwriter and musician has over 1500 gigs around the world, under his belt, and reached number eight in the official UK independent singles chart with his debut single ‘When We Meet’.
His new single ‘Powerful’ opens up as a strong slow building piano-led ballad, backed by lush string arrangements, before exploding into an infectious guitar and piano-heavy pop soul offering, over which Jamie Lee Harrison delivers a strong and impassioned rallying call for listeners to unlock their inner strengths, overcome their fears and break through boundaries. The song is brought to life and held together excellently, by Jamie’s powerful vocal showing, purposeful songwriting, and heartfelt performance.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Powerful’, Jamie Lee Harrison says, “I wrote the song about overcoming my own personal fears and breaking through boundaries; battling the lack of self-belief that has held me back. I believe that every single person has a fire inside them, a passion and drive to fulfil. Some of us need help to ignite it. The message is that each individual is powerful in their own way. We can take control of that power, whether it’s gaining the courage to achieve our goals or just being comfortable in our own skin”.
To celebrate and coincide with the release of his new single, Jamie Lee Harrison has also announced his biggest headline concert to date, at Newcastle Cathedral, on Friday, October 12, where he will be performing his brand new single ‘Powerful’ for the first time, as well as last year’s ‘Reflection’ and ‘Say You Love Me’, his top 10 UK independent charting single ‘When We Meet’, and his fan-favourite rendition of the R.E.M classic ‘Everybody Hurts’, backed by a full live band and special guests.
