Coming on the back of the success of his first single this year ‘Say It Out Loud’, which was supported by BBC Introducing, CelebMix, The Honey Pop and IGGY Magazine, among others, British singing sensation JAMIE LEE HARRISION is excited to unveil his brand new single titled ‘BETTER WITHOUT YOU’ in the lead up to his upcoming headline concert at the renowned Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle on August 22. He sat down with The Young Folks to discuss the single and upcoming headline show.
Produced by Paul Whalley, who has worked with James Arthur, Sigala, Cher Lloyd and Nina Nesbitt, among others, and written by Jamie along with Whalley and Notting Hill Music songwriter Joe Killington (Avicii, Snakehips, Armand Van Helden), ‘Better With You’ is a feel good song – driven by Jamie’s amazingly captivating voice, lush guitar licks, infectious synths and its relatable lyrics about being around someone extra special that makes everything better – that is just perfect for the summer and its sunny days and night time drives.
Speaking about how ‘Better With You’ came together, Jamie Lee Harrison says, “This track was another one born in lockdown just like ‘Say It Out Loud’. I was lucky enough to work with Joe Killington and Paul Whalley over zoom. It was one of those sessions that just worked and the song kind of wrote itself. I wanted a track paying homage to that special person that makes you happy and helps you escape all the things that are going wrong in life, but I also wanted a bit more of a summery vibe. I think Paul nailed it in the production! I’m really proud of it”.
Newcastle-born Jamie Lee Harrison is one of the most promising music prospects coming out of the North East, and has become a real staple of the region’s music ecosystem. Having spent years developing his artistry, he has steadily grown a tribe of people passionate for his music. He captured the nation’s hearts on BGT in 2017, before releasing his first series of singles to rave reviews, selling out his nationwide tour, headlining Newcastle Cathedral, and garnering support from CelebMix, Affinity Magazine and The Chronicle, along the way.
Following last summer’s ‘Scars At Night’ collaboration with Swiss producer Nicolas Haelg, which amassed over a million streams on Spotify alone, Jamie Lee Harrison spent the first half of 2021 collaborating on new music, with writers and producers that have worked alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Ne-Yo and Celine Dion, and is poised for a breakout summer of 2021, led by his ‘Say It Out Loud’ and his new offering ‘Better With You’, which will be followed by a string of further singles and live shows this summer, leading up to his debut EP arriving in 2022.
