Nearly a year on from the release of her critically acclaimed debut EP See My Vision, which was championed by Wonderland Magazine, The 405, Guestlist Magazine, and Rinse FM among others, 20-year old London singer, songwriter and musician Althea is back with her highly-anticipated sophomore EP titled Cold Thoughts, as featured on Okayplayer.

The 5-track Cold Thoughts EP sees Althea collaborating with burgeoning producer and fellow British Academy Of New Music alumni Lone Wolf, with musician and producer Dayo, who produced Althea’s debut EP See My Vision, also contributing towards one of the tracks on this new record.

Steeped in forward-thinking R&B sensibilities and honest relatable storytelling that we first heard on See My Vision, Althea’s Cold Thoughts EP is a testament of how the R&B newcomer has honed and perfected her craft even further. Held together excellently by her captivating vocals and lush minimalist production, Althea has delivered on what will be one of the best British R&B records of 2017.

From the atmospheric piano-led opening track ‘Over You’ which sees Althea reminiscing about a past love, and the ethereal ‘Deserve’ backed by moody drums and synth arrangements, to the 90’s R&B influenced ‘Act Up’ and the introspective and deeply personal ‘Same Dream’, which closes out the record perfectly, the Cold Thoughts EP makes for a compelling listen, from start to finish.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her Cold Thoughts EP, Althea says, “it started as an idea at the beginning of the year during those cold winter months, I wanted to create a project which captured people’s thoughts and feelings during different stages of their relationships. This inspired the title ‘Cold Thoughts’.

“This was a really fun project to make, and it really executes my vision of creating music that people can resonate with and vibe to. This record speaks to a wide range of feelings and experiences that are common in our relationships and life in general, and hopefully there’s a track on there that everyone can relate to”.
