Noctis Magazine Premieres New SVMI ‘P.O.P’ Video

Following the breakaway success of his viral hit song ‘Bait Lies’ that has amassed over 3 million plays and tracks under his belt like ‘Old Friends’ and ‘Timeout’ nearing a million plays, which have seen him garner strong support from BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, GRM Daily, Link Up TV, Mixtape Madness and BBC Introducing, among others, fast-rising Manchester artist SVMI is excited to unveil his brand new single titled ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ as premiered by Noctis Magazine, having also just signed to Northern music and entertainment powerhouse NQ Records (Aitch, WhyJay).

Produced by LiTek (Rag’n’Bone Man, Bugzy Malone, Central Cee), ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ is an infectious melodic rap track with smooth R&B leanings underpinned by a bouncy bassline and lush synths, over which SVMI is showcasing the catchy flow, rap skills, singing talent and pop sensibilities that have made him one of the most exciting young prospects coming out of Manchester this year. As SVMI describes it, “This song means a lot to me, I think it really does show how much I’ve improved as an artist and developed both lyrically and creatively”.

Sampling the viral Donna Goudeau ‘I’m legally blind’ meme, which also informed the title of the track, SVMI confesses that the inspiration for ‘P.O.P (Hold Me Down)’ comes from wanting to go on a spontaneous ‘baecation’ with someone new, which we can all relate to especially after the past year of lockdowns and travel restrictions. The accompanying music video, directed by SVMI himself and Archie Erskine, brings the track further to life and captures a day in the life of a young creative enjoying the process and taking it all in his stride.

Speaking about how the creative ‘P.O.P (Hold It Down)’ video came together, SVMI says, “This video was funny, there was a lot of memories behind it, a lot of work that went into it, and a lot of good people that helped make it come alive. There are some people in the video I don’t even talk to anymore, but that’s why the vid is so special cos it just has loads of different moments from different times that make it a whole vibe. Visually, it looks crazy as well, Archie went crazy on the edit as usual and shown why he’s one of the hardest coming out”.
