“A brave young artist who wasn’t afraid to take risks.” – Clash Magazine

“British Hip Hop Gold.” – EARMILK

Following a stellar 12 months, which has seen 21-year old Bristol Hip Hop musician ThisisDA release two acclaimed EPs Based Off Black and 21 & Done, and garner rave reviews from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Complex, Earmilk, MTV, The 405 and Hypetrakamong others, he is proud to unveil the brand new music video for 21 & Done EP opening track ‘Over’, premiered via Mass Appeal.

Crafted with Cambridge producer Spacedtime, whose previous production credits include working with the likes of Mick Jenkins, Rejjie Snow, and Hawk House, the ever-fluid, and often dark and daunting ‘Over’ serves as a dramatic insight into ThisisDA’s mindset as he was about to turn 21 last summer, and according to the Bristol native, “shit got real and so did the music”.

The visuals for ‘Over’ were directed and edited by burgeoning filmmakers Samuel Bennett and Sepideh Zolfaghari, and features freestyle dancers Ramelle Williams and Jodelle Douglas (2015 BBC Young Dancer Hip Hop Finalist), with inspiration from Flumeand Chet Faker’s ‘Drop The Game’ visuals, and the ‘Body War’ video from Queens alternative trio Show Me The Body.

Speaking about how the ‘Over’ visuals came together, ThisisDA says, “Jodelle and Ramelle have a unique hold on their bodily movement which matches the drops and switch-ups that run throughout the song, and I’m glad the directors Sepi and Sam were able to capture that on film – this was a perfect matrimony of visual and sonic styles. Thanks to Julian Pratt from Show Me The Body for the inspiration too”.
