Live Nation’s Ones To Watch Premieres New ALUS ‘Cherry’ Video

On the back of an outstanding summer, which has seen her latest two singles ‘Fuck Nudes, Send Me Your Playlist (FNSMYP)’ and ‘No Bra Club’ garner over a million plays on YouTube alone in just under two months of release, to build on recent support from the likes of Ladygunn, Flaunt Magazine, Popdust, and Earmilk, New Jersey based Latin American R&B-pop rising star ALUS is excited to usher in the fall with her brand new music video for her single titled ‘CHERRY’, as premiered by Ones To Watch.

Inspired by Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory after rewatching the classic over the summer and having its ‘Oompa Loompa’ song stuck in her head, ALUS turns the nursery rhyme on its head on ‘Cherry’ and breathes a sexual energy into the phrase, that we didn’t think we needed until now. According to ALUS, “it is a women’s anthem in a play-hard-to-get kinda way, when you know someone wants you, you really live in a fantasy of what could happen next”.

Considering the classic film virtually birthed the track for ALUS, she had to pay homage to the movie for the music video, “so it was only right for the ‘Cherry’ video to be led by little people, with me playing your modern day female Willy Wonka”, she says, adding that “they loved the song and how it was flipped into a sexy anthem”. The visuals were filmed and directed by ALUS’ longtime collaborator Prime Prodigy, who has also worked with Nicki Minaj, French Montana, Mike Will Made It, Sean Paul, and J Balvin, among others.

Speaking about her inspiration for ‘Cherry’, ALUS says, “this is a women’s anthem for creating that fantasy world of desire. When I wrote it, I felt empowered as a woman to say ‘I know you want me, but you have to be invited first’. The visuals for ‘Cherry’ is a collection of fantasies dreamt up through color palettes and of course – cherries! Every look has cherries infused in it somehow, whether I’m lying on a cherry, holding a cherry, or I’m the cherry in your martini”.
