Coming on the back of his breakout single ‘My Thang’ amassing over half a million streams as well as the success of his latest single ‘Take Me Away’ earlier this year, that have led to rave reviews and critical acclaim from the likes of Complex, CBC Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and Toronto’s biggest hip hop station FLOW 93.5, among others, fast-rising Toronto rap artist FAME HOLIDAY proudly unveiled his much anticipated full-length album SHOWTIME, three years after the release of his seminal sophomore EP Made For This that put him on the map in Toronto. In an exclusive interview with Complex, Fame holiday opens up about the album and much more.
With guest appearances from Polaris Music Prize winner Haviah Mighty, as well as fellow Toronto rising stars Broco and Monte Biggz, and production from Ariatheproducer (Lil Tjay, J.I), Babygotbeatz (Toosii, B Young, Phora) and Evince (NLE Choppa, Drakeo The Ruler, Jhené Aiko) among others, the 11-track Showtime album sees Fame Holiday at his ultimate best, as he weaves together gripping songs about his journey as an artist, past relationships and strong passion for music, held together by his captivating melodic rap delivery and vivid songwriting dexterities.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the Showtime album, Fame Holiday says, “the album is about me being ready to showcase myself to the world. Doing music for over 10 years, starting at 12 years old, there’s so much that happens through the process, from finding myself as artist to learning and mastering my sound, from performing at open mics and talent shows to selling out shows in my hometown. ‘Showtime’ represents me with no limitations – confident, dedicated and prepared. Going through this past decade, I finally know myself and what I bring to the table as an artist”.
Originally from Mississauga, Fame Holiday has been establishing himself in Canada’s music scene since his first talent show at the age of 14. The rising star landed his first big break in 2018 with the release of his acclaimed sophomore EP Made For This and breakout single ‘Saucy’, which kicked off a slew of sold-out tours in Toronto and Montreal. He upped the levels last year with the success of ‘My Thang’ and has since registered his first million streams on Spotify. His new album Showtime crowns an incredible 2021 that has seen fans and critics alike crown him as next up.
