With her return to the UK music landscape well and truly underway, following her comeback single ‘All In Me’, which is currently being supported by The Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Noctis Magazine and ILUVLIVE, to mention a few, South East London singer, songwriter and musician LAOLU is not resting on her laurels, as she drills down with a brand new sultry R&B single titled ‘How To Feel’, premiered via Clash Music.
Taken from her forthcoming debut EP All In Me, ‘How To Feel’ sees Laolu take a slight detour from the darker themes on her previous single, to deliver a sweltering R&B offering, while drawing on the superb moody and atmospheric elements of her music that she introduced us to on ‘All In Me’, underpinned by her exquisitie vocal showing, and honest and relatable songwriting.
Speaking about how ‘How To Feel’ came about, Laolu says, “This song was about something I experienced recently – that pensive insecure feeling of uncertainty in a relationship. The song originally started out as something completely different, but Dunc Suei, the producer, and I decided the song should go in this direction based on the vibe we got while recording, luckily the song turned out to be a proper R&B jam”.
Expanding on the inspiration behind the single, Laolu adds that, “I think everyone has unfortunately fallen for someone that turned out not to be serious, and has left them in limbo, or given them false hope. It’s about feeling like the person you’re with is leaving you on pause, one minute they’re hot, the next they’re cold. I felt people would connect with the song, and really enjoy the old school R&B vibe of the track”.
