After spending most of last year’s lockdown in what he called a “creative hiatus”, away from thespotlight refining his sound, going through personal maturation and leaning more into his creative process, rising Florida rapper, singer, songwriter and producer BRANDON KAI is back this summer with a brand new offering titled ‘ON ME’, as featured by ASBO Magazine. Serving as his first single in almost a year and the lead track for his highly anticipated upcoming sophomore EP, the infectious head-bopper rap track captures the sound that Brandon has been developing while on lockdown. According to the Tampa native, “it has this energy and drive to really get you moving”.
Driven by his quickfire flow, smooth vocals and confident wordplay, over hard-hitting drums, lush synths and an infectious bassline, ‘On Me’ sees Brandon Kai in glorious form, from start to finish, as he addresses girl trouble, detractors, new friends and focusing on getting to the bag. Speaking about his inspiration for ‘On Me’ and how the track came about, Brandon says, “the past year helped me grow as an artist in ways that would not happen otherwise. The experience, lessons and maturation are on full display in the music I’m creating now, with ‘On Me’ being one of the first”.
21-year rising star Brandon Kai – real name Brandon Raymond Trujillo – burst onto the scene in 2018 with his acclaimed debut EP In The Making when he was just 18-years old, and the following year, he landed on VEVO’s ‘Artists To Watch’ playlist with the single ‘Fxck A Day Off’, while also inking partnership deals with Symphonic and sync music publisher Audio. However in 2020, in the face of the global pandemic and lockdown in 2020, Brandon took the opportunity to “step away and really take time with myself”, the Florida artist and producer recalls – the outcome of which is his upcoming new project, with ‘On Me’ offering an exciting first taste of what’s to come.
