Magnetic Magazine Premieres New DJ Fen x Kit Rice Single ‘Don’t You Wanna’

Picking up right where they left off on last year’s acclaimed collaboration ‘Not Enough’, which was championed by Capital Xtra, Rinse FM, Complex and MTV UK among others, veteran UK Garage and House producer DJ Fen, and fast-rising London singer, songwriter and musician Kit Rice are back with a massive new UKG offering titled ‘Don’t You Wanna’, premiered exclusively via Magnetic Magazine.

Forthcoming on DJ Fen’s new record label Upcycle Recordings, alongside KAR Records, and garnering support from BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra and Rinse FM, ‘Don’t You Wanna’ is exactly what the doctor ordered to battle this winter blues. With its lush dance-floor-ready instrumentation, infectious bass heavy chorus, and glorious vocals, the record is already shelling down clubs up and down the country.

A veteran of over 20 years and revered for his contributions to the UK Garage and House music landscape in the last two decades, DJ Fen is often best remembered as one half of legendary UKG duo Ramsey & Fen, and for championing pirate station London Underground. He also founded BUG Records in 1996, which went on to be come one of the most influential UK Garage and House labels.

The veteran DJ and producer is responsible for classic Garage anthems and remixes such as The Heartists’ ‘Belo Horizonti’, The Fabulous Baker Boys ‘Oh Boy’, N-Tyc’s ‘Telefunkin’, Yazz’s ‘Abandon Me’, Jaheem’s ‘Could It Be’, Robbie Craig’s ‘Special’, Somore’s ‘I Refuse’, and Kim Mazelle’s ‘Big Baby’ and ‘Quality’, to mention a few.

His ‘Don’t You Wanna’ collaborator Kit Rice is a BRIT School graduate, who is being hailed as one of the most exciting new vocalists to emerge from the UK dance and electronic music scene. His Living Life EP was released last year to rave reviews from Music Week, Guestlist Magazine and London Live among others. Kit Rice will be appearing on the latest series of The Voice UK this February.

Speaking about ‘Don’t You Wanna’ came together, Kit Rice says, “Fen’s beats are very inspirational to me, the clean production style gives me free reign to get down and dirty”. DJ Fen adds that, “I love working with Kit, he is such a great talent, with natural skills and it is always a pleasure working with him. We already even have our next project in the pipeline, so look out for that this summer”.
